Amanda Brugel

(February 27th of 2010 to Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in the part of Montreal called the West Island. The West Island can be confusing for those who aren't familiar to its significance. They often believe it is an island to the west of Montreal however it is actually a part of the city. West Island encompasses everything between the cities that are Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is frequently called her birthplace. It is true that she stayed there for a short duration. Brugel was raised in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. She initially wanted to pursue a career as an actress but after a sudden growth spurt her partners could no longer dance along with her. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. Once I was bigger than my male counterpart and stopped dancing, I quit. There are many dancers who make the move into acting. For Bruce, it was her drama teacher who nudged her into this path. It was her teacher who suggested she audition for the role of Anne for their school's annual production. The student tried it out, and ended up playing the lead of Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in 2000. Since then, she's appeared performing in over 60 plays, smaller and large. The most notable was the time she was cast as Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian in the Season 1 actors of the series and only seen occasionally was the only Canadian.
